July 30: Tent games
At Black Bear Camp today the students enjoyed making friends that they will be camping with for the next week in a tent. They were able to bond through games like dizzy bat, water blow, lifesaver stick, sponge in a stick, and tug-of-war. As a team they also learned how to set up their tents and get ready to camp.
July 29: International food cooking day
The Black Bear Camp showcased their culinary skills today cooking foods from their home country's and learning how to cook food from other countries. It started with a walk to the grocery
July 27: Olympics begin, skating, and newspaper writing
All over the world people witnessed the beginning of the 2012 Olympics today, The Black Bear students included. We also wrote newspaper articles about the student's time at Wynchemna so far. The day finished off with skating at the 1988 Olympic Oval at the University of Calgary. What a fantastic day it was!
July 25: Rockclimbing, golf, and casino night
The Wynchemna Black Bear Group had an excellent day learning how to rock climb and experience many different walls. As well they enjoyed learning the sport of golf at the driving range and topped it off with a Wynchemna style casino night and auction.
July 24: Rockclimbing, volleyball, and soccer
Today the Black Bear Camp learned how to safely rock climb as well as belay their friends, play volleyball in the sand, and indoor soccer. They also had a blast watching the Canadian sport of lacrosse.
July 23: Rollerskating, football, soccer, and frisbee
The Black Bear Camp had to change plans today due to weather so we went to the park to play American football, soccer, ultimate frisbee, and have fun. Afterward we enjoyed dinner at Denny's and went indoor rollerskating.
July 22: The Amazing Race in Calgary
Today the Black Bear Camp went on a stroll through the city of Calgary looking for many different and unique things on a list. In order to complete this list they had to talk to people, explore the city, and use each other for help and guidance.
July 21: Drumheller: Dinosaurs and swimming
This action packed Saturday was full of excitement with a bus ride to the city of Drumheller, a place world renowned for Dinosaur fossils. We went on a hike in the badlands, swam in the city pool, and ended off with a barbecue in the park.
July 20: Canoeing and baseball
Today's action packed day consisted of learning things that many North American's enjoy doing. The students learned how to canoe in a reservoir located on the South side of Calgary and also enjoyed learning the game of baseball.
July 19: New students and games
The Black Bear Camp had many new arrivals today as students from Mexico, France, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, and Germany came today. Many students were introduced to each other through a bingo style game and the students also learned the great sport of dodgeball.
July 18: Improv and hiking ice caves
Today our Black Bear Camp had a special guest speaker come in and talk about improv acting and how to let loose and be a kid. After, we hiked up a mountain into an ice cave and enjoyed the scenery.
July 17: Red paper clip game and swimming
Today our Black Bear Camp enjoyed learning about the paper clip game where they had to trade paper clips for bigger and better items at houses around the neighbourhood. We also went swimming at an indoor pool with waves, slides, diving boards, and swinging boulder balls.
July 16: Soccer, rollerblading/ rollerskating, bowling
Today our Black Bear camp had a busy day traveling around the city. We introduced many students to 5 pin bowling and disco rollerskating/rollerblading. The students also got to showcase their talent on an indoor soccer field.
July 15: Banff shopping and hot springs
After planning to go hiking for the day, rain changed our plans and we all went shopping in the beautiful town of Banff instead. We also were able to enjoy the hot springs at the bottom of Sulphur Mountain.
July 14th: Skating and cooking
Today we had a bunch of fun skating at the Calgary Olympic Oval. Afterward we all went back to our residence and made a bunch of food.
July 13th: Swimming

Today our Black Bear camp spent the afternoon in an outdoor pool mixing and getting to better know their classmates.
July 12th: Arrival Day
Today our students arrived from all over for another great four weeks of camp at Wynchemna. In the afternoon Lola, Timothe, Alexis & Emmanuel arrived from France, along with Steffen from Germany, Meng-Ru and Tsung-Han from Taiwan, Marke and Frantisek from the Czech Republic, Charlotte from Morocco, and Karla from Mexico.
July 11th: Our First Arrivals

Today our first groups arrived for another great time at camp! Just after lunchtime our first group arrived all the way from Taiwan, including Caviar, Annie, Peggy, Vivian, Shawn, Allen, Ryan & Pin-Chen.
Later in the afternoon, Marija from Czech Republic arrived, followed later in the evening with Maria from Mexico.
